Change the device name

You can change the name of your Google Home device. This includes Google HomeGoogle Home Mini, and Google Home Max. 

Change the device name

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi as your Google Home device.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. In the top left corner of the app's Home screen, tap Menu Menu.
  4. Verify that the Google Account listed is the one linked to Google Home.  To switch accounts, click the triangle next to the account name and email address.
  5. Tap Devices . 
  6. Scroll down to find the device card for the Google Home you'd like to change the device name for.
  7. In the top right corner of the device card, tap the device card menuMore menuand thenSettings and then Name and then enter a new name and then Save.
